Assistant Pastor for Cantonese Ministry (One-year contract)
Preamble:
The Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church (CCAC) was established in 1988. Over the past 35 years, we have been dedicated to making disciples and nurturing leaders within our vibrant Cantonese, English, and Children ministries. Our Cantonese congregation has a diverse congregation of young adults, families, empty nesters and seniors. Our mission aligns with the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada, focusing on a Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, and mission-oriented approach.
As the Family of God, we believe in growing together as a community, including Cantonese, English, and Children ministries. We actively cultivate leaders from both English and Cantonese congregations, recognizing that our young people are the future leaders of CCAC.
We are grateful to witness significant growth within the Cantonese Ministry of Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church. Our Sunday Worship attendance has increased significantly after the pandemic due to the influx of immigrants from Hong Kong. We anticipate the growth will continue in the coming years and recognize the need to support adults and families within our community.
The Cantonese Assistant Pastor will provide spiritual care, conduct visitations, lead prayers, and teach and preach the Word of God. This pastor will be accountable to the Senior Pastor and receive support from the pastoral and ministry teams. We operate as a team, cultivating a sense of togetherness in our ministry.
The ideal candidate must adhere to and practice the Christian and Missionary Alliance’s understanding of Deeper Life and Mission.
Responsibilities:
● Pastoral care, with particular emphasis on caring for the needs of women.
● Disciple-making through small groups and providing one-on-one coaching and training.
● Teaching
● Preaching
Requirements and Assets:
● Demonstrate spiritual maturity
● Regular practice of spiritual disciplines
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in full-time pastoral ministry
● Willingness to humbly submit and collaborate with colleagues and leaders, working effectively within teams
● Courage to lead and guide laity toward spiritual maturity
● Academic qualification: MDiv or higher from a recognized Seminary or Bible School
● Language proficiency: Preferably fluent in Cantonese, with competent communication skills in English
● Credential: Licensed by the ECD of C&MA or intention to seek licensing
● Willing to obtain a police background check
● Long-term employment opportunities may be available upon contract expiry
● Remuneration depending on experience
